Ansa Assuncao, LLP Achieves Victory in New Jersey Appellate Division

Ansa Assuncao, LLP attorneys Robert Assuncao and Steven Gooby achieved a complete appellate victory on behalf of a global auto manufacturer. Plaintiff brought the action claiming the air bag system in the client manufactured vehicle was defective in design and caused him injuries. After a month long trial, a jury returned a verdict in favor of our client but an adverse verdict against the co-defendant in excess of $30 million. Plaintiff appealed. In a 55-page opinion, the New Jersey Appellate Division affirmed the jury verdict entered in favor of our client. The issues on appeal were numerous and complex, including esoteric issues such as whether the client's comments to NHTSA during its rule making process are protected from disclosure by the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and the Noerr-Pennington Doctrine. The Appellate Division affirmed the trial court judgment in favor of our client on all issues.
